Feeling nostalgic today about ye old interwebs, just out of the blue... I'm nearly 30 now and this account is 14 years old, though I abandoned it (sans some archival related journals) since what, late 2018? 2019? But I really miss the internet days between 2008-2016. I feel like after 2016 it started to just slowly go downhill... more ads (why is DA *ALWAYS* selling core 50% off and has 2-3 ads on every damn page for it??), websites started changing/breaking their desktop versions to better suit mobile apps instead, every website has to incorporate sketchy AI art generators and barely studied LLMs, rich conservative techbros buying social media sites and ruining them... it's all just made me so... sad. I remember growing up on forums, Furcadia, and old DeviantART, back when the DA chatrooms were bumpin' with artists and RP, when Furcadia still had active RP groups for fandoms, and when forums were still non-uniform and being made at all. When I was a teen, I used to make a list of all the things that happened in a year when New Years came. I thought I'd have a little fun and replace the last archival journal with one of those :} So, here's what happened in 2022! - Refreshed my banner and avatar - Got a new, much happier, job - Got bored of streaming lmao (it's a lot of work!!) - Completed a MAP part and uploaded a finished LP for In Other Waters - Got covid XoX - Got a regular doctor and made lifestyle changes to get rid of pain (diff pain, not covid related) - Finished assisting with manually logging forum fics/art for an archival project - Got into the Daycare Attendant thanks to one of my fav fanfic authors... now I have the scrungly plushie of them that came with the collectors edition > : D nyehehe - Somehow, watched LPs of all FNAF games so I could write about them more extensively - Found my old holographic bookmark and got back into reading actual published novels (as opposed to fanfics/free short stories) -
